This is an informal outing for members of the Meteorological Society of New Zealand to enjoy an evening together celebrating and understanding our planet’s oceans at the Wellington Ocean Film Festival.
We will meet on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, at the Embassy Theatre Bar (10 Kent Terrace) at 5:30 and take the opportunity to talk and reconnect before the movie.
The Film festival screening itself is a curated selection of films from the Ocean Film Festival World Tour, showcasing the beauty and importance of marine environments around the globe. The screening runs from 6:30–9:30 pm.
MetSoc have purchased 10 tickets and members can access a subsidised ticket for just $15 AND the MetSoc committee will also shout one house drink (beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverage) on arrival.
Further details and registration information at www.metsoc.org.nz/event-6080590
Don’t miss this chance to engage with fellow professionals and ocean enthusiasts while gaining a deeper appreciation of how our oceans shape the world’s climate and weather patterns!
Note MetSoc isn't associated with the venue or screening in any way, this is just an informal meetup opportunity for our members.
The ICSHMO series began in the early 1980s and for over 40 years has provided a unique venue for discussion of the science of the Southern Hemisphere. All things south of the Equator are topics for discussion at ICSHMO meetings: oceans, ice, weather, climate, advances in science and technology, human interactions with the environment, and reflections on the history of our science. The ICSHMO conferences bring together a special family of researchers from across the Southern Hemisphere and beyond. The 14th conference, to be held in South Africa in 2025, will be an in- person meeting only to facilitate networking and engagement which is so important for developing new research opportunities, and for providing opportunities for early-career professionals. The website with conference details, and more detailed programme will be made available later in 2024. The committee welcomes all contributions on Southern Hemisphere weather, ocean, and climate science. Enquiries: icshmo2025@saeon.nrf.ac.za
